History

Firmament AS resulted from the demerger of the Olsen family’s business activities between the brothers Petter and Fred.

The company was founded as early as 1966 under the name AS Petter Olsen Trading. After the demerger in 1997, the company changed its name to Petter Olsen AS, and changed once again to Firmament AS on 16 June 2002.

The new name is an old name for the heavens above us, and expresses something dominant, the firmament as a foundation for our business. The heavens can be used to navigate by, and the name reflects space. Our intention is to practise a holistic approach, at the same time as we protect our financial interests.

The name and logo are conceived and designed by Petter Olsen. The trademark, or flag, shows a section of the Earth seen from space, with the Sun as our guiding star.
